On behalf of the executive and members of SALNAM I wish to express our sincere thanks and appreciation to all those who in diverse ways supported us in celebrating Sierra Leone’s 48th independence anniversary at the City Oasis Saturday May 2nd 2009. You will agree with me that we had a blast and the program was a success, but most important, you guys are the reason for our success and I personally want to congratulate and inform you all that this is just the beginning of the many good things to come in our community.

Get this straight: when one speaks, he speaks not for the SLPP, APC, PNDC, PLP, YPP or whatever. I don’t belong to any political party and political parties will not undo the woes of our great nation. When one speaks, I speak not for SIR MILTON MARGAI, ALBERT MARGAI, SIAKA STEVENS, AT JUXON SMITH or JOSEPH SAIDU MOMOH. All these great men are dead and gone and in their own ways have helped to shape the course of the Sierra Leonean destiny. They made their own mistakes.... |

One of the most visible and highly respected academician in the Sierra Leone community here in Winnipeg, Canada. Mr. Randolph Gorvie gave his perspective on community integration and development. According to Mr. Gorvie, as the number of people in a community continue to rise, the need to integrate that community into main stream values, which includes political, social and the economic sectors became fundamental, thus, creating a center stage to influence decisions that will promote the socio-economic and political interest of individuals of that community. Seeing Barack Obama’s popularity in the race for the Democratic nomination spreading like a wild fire in harmattan, Mr. Randolph Gorvie is confident that, with a positive and cohesive action in our multicultural socity “We will find another Barack Obama of the North. Or another Rose Marie Brown in our back yard.”. Please read what he has to say! |

Press Release During the presentation of the Sierra Leone Nationals Association of Manitoba (SALNAM) tuition scholarship project last year in April 26th 2007, I promised the general public that SALNAM tuition project in Sierra Leone is not limited to providing scholarship to students alone, but will continue to provide school supplies (Computers, printers, network gears and reading materials) for schools across Sierra Leone. Our organization is committed to ensuring equal educational opportunities to all Sierra Leoneans. This commitment rose from our firm belief that, the quality of human capital depends on the nations emphasis on education. Therefore, SALNAM as an organization will not stand-by and see future scientist, engineers, lawyers, doctors, entrepreneurs, etc, held back from school by lack of educational opportunities. We need to build our national intellectual capacity through investment in education, eradicating knowledge-poverty and develop a more skilled and flexible workforce. |
